Introduction

The background to the government backtracking on a couple of the proposals is that the Alliance parties have threatened to table a motion of no confidence against some of the ministers responsible for the proposals. Following the press conference, the Alliance announced that it does not intend to table any confidence votes. The proposal for amended rules for closely held companies has received a lot of criticism, mainly due to the tax increases that the proposal contains. The proposal also includes improved rules to facilitate generational succession in closely held companies. As the government will now not proceed with amended rules for 2018, our interpretation is that this means that today's current rules regarding generational succession will be left entirely unchanged.
