Introduction

The Riksdag has decided to repeat last summer's temporarily reduced employer contributions for young people. The employer contribution for employees between the ages of 19 and 23 will temporarily amount to 10.21 %during June to August.

The Riksdag has previously decided to temporarily lower employer contributions for individuals aged 19-23, in order to counteract the pandemic's negative consequences for younger workers. Between 1 January 2021 and 31 March 2023, the employer contributions for young people amount to 19.73 %.

As in previous years, the Riksdag has now decided to further lower the employer contributions for young people between June and August to 10.21 %. The discounted employer contribution applies to individuals born between 1999 and 2003 and is paid on remuneration of up to SEK 25,000 per calendar month.

The reduced employer contributions apply to remuneration paid in June, July and August 2022, and the decision takes effect on 1 June 2022.
